Summary

Our Common Cause: Our Upland Commons project is celebrating and enhancing the heritage of Commons and Commoning in England’s uplands. We are looking for a project officer to lead the project in the Yorkshire Dales. We have already repaired historic sheepfolds, surveyed peatlands and rare birds, trained farmers to assess habitats, and delivered some great public and school engagement. But there is more still to do, with exciting projects including: Natural Flood Management, peat restoration, engaging graziers and landowners in forming visions to manage their sites, interpretation, and public engagement. Find out more about Our Upland Commons project here.

You will be part of a remote working but close-knit national project team. Leading the project in the Dales you can draw on the support and expertise of the Yorkshire Dales National Park’s respected Land Management team and will work from their offices at least one day per week. You’ll spend a lot of time out on Yorkshire’s iconic uplands, working with a great group of commoners and partners.  Along with the rest of the project team you’ll be employed by the National Trust, with the great benefits that brings, seconded to the Foundation for Common Land. We would also consider secondment directly from another project partner including the YDNPA.

The vacancy closes on the 30th of October with interviews being held on the 8th and 10th of November
